Michigan is the only state to consist of two peninsulas - The Lower Peninsula and The Upper Peninsula. Its name originates from the Ojibwe word mishigamaa, meaning "large water" or "large lake". Detroit, its largest city, is known as the car capital of the world. Alpena is the home of the world's largest cement plant. Rogers City boasts the world's largest limestone quarry.
